Lynne Willey Portrait Artist Biography
|
I have been illustrating Books & Magazines for 35 years
specialising in figure illustration. Currently I am promoting my work as a portrait artist using a
variety of media and styles. For example pencil, pastel, pencil crayon, gouache, water colour and
acrylic paint.
Portraits can be produced from live sittings or, as is often the case,
from ‘favourite photographs’. My work has been strongly influenced by my personal ‘hero’
Norman Rockwell in that wherever appropriate I attempt to place my subjects in ‘normal’ /
‘natural’ surroundings doing everyday things.
This enables me to generate individual portraits in which the client
could, for example, have their image ‘dressed-up’ in the costume or style of a particular
character whom they admire or, at the other end of the spectrum, be part of an entire family
grouping produced with members past and present making up a ‘family tree’ of images from
several generations.
Now that portraiture plays a prominent part of the national curriculum I am putting together a
presentation with the aim of visiting schools to discuss my work with students and
offering help and guidance where required.
